The ‘Meryl Streep of porn’ explains what it takes to be PornHub’s No. 1 st

The Australian woman who has been described as the Meryl Streep of porn has added another feather to her cap.

Angela White has worked in pornography for nearly two decades. Pornhub’s 2024 Year in Review report recently revealed that White was the most popular porn star on the site.

She had 1,558,201,885 video views.

“Like many people, I found out when I read Pornhub’s ‘2024 in Review’ report.” she told news.com.au.

“It was a super exciting surprise. It’s great to know that my content is being searched organically and resonating with fans.

“Pornhub has one of the biggest audiences on the internet, and there are a lot of great performers and creators sharing their work on the platform, so to be the most wanted is a huge honor.”

It was a big year for White. In January, she received five trophies at the AVN Awards. She’s just been nominated eight times for the 2025 AVN Awards — the biggest night in adult entertainment.

White also won Most Popular Female Performer at the 2024 PornHub Awards in March. It was a first for him.

But her crowning achievement was producing one of the biggest films of the year; “FK ANGELA.”

“The film allowed me to collaborate with my favorite directors and many of my favorite performers, providing a fun and unique product for my fans,” she said.

The film just won Empire State Film of the Year.

“Adult Empire is one of the biggest online adult retailers in the world, so for ‘F–K ANGELA’ to win Movie of the Year is amazing,” she said.

“F–K ANGELA was a huge passion project for me. It was a love letter to my favorite era and genre of porn: early 2000s gonzo.

“I shot it on the VX2000, which was a sought-after camera of the era, and adapted my clothing and makeup to suit the period. It was a lot of fun to shoot.”

As always, White thanked her fans for her 2024 triumph. She said that without their support, she would not have been as successful as she has been.

She also gave a glimpse of what fans can expect from her in the coming year.

“What keeps me going? I absolutely love what I do. That’s it. If you really love what you do, you will wake up earlier, stay up later and work harder every day,” she said.

“I have never sought to set new standards; I just shoot what I want with what I want. I have been extremely fortunate that this approach has blessed me with much success.”

She said she’ll keep her cards close to her chest about what exactly she’s working on in 2025.

“But I can say for sure that 2025 will have the same objectives as every year: to improve as a performer; improve as a producer/director; and give as much value as possible to my fans,” she said.

Earlier this year, White told news.com.au about the reality of working on a porn set. It was a world away from what most people imagine.

“A lot of people still think it’s a dodgy industry, when in reality it’s very corporate – there’s so much compliance,” she told news.com.au at the time.

“There are a lot of documents.”

The documents White was referring to included 2257s – which require performers to verify their ages and names to prevent child exploitation. Before each scene, each performer must show identification to prove they are of age.

Then there’s a boundary checklist that includes every sexual act you can imagine, which the performers go through along with a model liaison.

“We go through and say ‘yes’ or ‘no’ or ask for clarification,” she said, adding that this exercise can take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes.

She said that even if you’ve performed with someone countless times, it’s still vital to do the checklist each time as boundaries can change from day to day.
